A. Conservation Assistant (Term Position)
PURPOSE
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the resource conservation program throughout Meewasin Valley with emphasis on restoration of natural landscapes.
- Prepare site analysis and inventories including field work, written and graphic reports.
- Assist in sheep grazing operation including constructing and moving fences and pens, and watering.
- Restoration work on damaged sites in the valley.
- Co-ordinate volunteers.
- Must be able to perform heavy physical work in outdoor conditions.
- Evening and weekend work required.
- Full-time enrolment in a post-secondary program in resource management, biology, agriculture or a related discipline. Familiarity with biological and physical components of natural areas in the Saskatoon region.
- Experience with controlled burning, brush cutting, fencing, machine operation, and/or spraying would be an asset.
- The ability to identify native plants would be an asset.
- Knowledge of GIS (AutoDesk MAP, ArcGIS), Excel, Word, Access and photography is a definite asset.
- Report writing skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively with people, including volunteers.
- Organizational skills are very important.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Salary: $16.37 per hour

B. Resource Management Assistant - Valley Steward (Term Position)
PURPOSE- Under the supervision of the Resource Planning Manager, to promote good use of the Meewasin Valley through regular and timely visits to sites, site cleanups, sign and other asset maintenance, and communication with Valley residents and visitors about good stewardship behaviours.
- Visit and monitor rural and urban recreation and habitat sites in the valley.
- Clean-up Meewasin designated sites as required and report incidences of vandalism.
- Promote site conservation and stewardship through the distribution of information material to the public.
- Meet with the public to explain stewardship and provide information in regard to Meewasin Bylaws; City and Rural Municipality Bylaws; RCMP, City Police, Corman Park Police and Fire and Protective Services protocols, and the laws of Saskatchewan and Canada.
- Report criminal and maintenance issues to relevant authorities according to Meewasin protocols.
- Visit high schools to to place posters and communicate with youth to discourage parties within the Valley
- Photograph sites to enhance the existing photo library and up date photo monitoring program
- Carry out site inspection for development review conditions
- Address wildlife complaints and liaise with Provincial conservation officers
- Install boating signage and maintain eco - canoe tour guide posts
- Maintain regulatory signage
- Liaise with river users
- Work includes evening and weekend hours
- A valid driver's license is required
- Valid pleasure craft operations card is required
- Willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends
- Demonstrated ability to work with the people
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, mapping software, and photography is an asset
- Ability to work effectively with people including volunteers
- Ability to assess risk and deal with conflict
- Organizational Skills are very important
- Report writing skills are essential

C. Canoe Tour Guide (Term Position)
DUTIES- Lead canoe day tours in a ten-person Voyageur Canoe
- Assist in the development and delivery of cultural and natural heritage education an interpretation programs for children and adults
- Greet and orient visitors, make them aware of river regulations and provide general information about city-wide attractions, facilities and special events
- Plan and maintain displays and program materials
- Undertake research and prepare reports as required
- Distribute information to the public through direct means and media
- Organize special events, including promotion, public awareness, volunteer co-ordination
- Evaluate and report on programs
- Evening and weekend work required
- National Lifeguard Certification (Royal Life Saving Society) - only those with current certification will be considered
- Canoeing certification from Paddling Canada
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Full-time enrollment in a post-secondary program with a focus on education, natural sciences, or human history
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with children and adults
- Well developed written and oral communication skills

PURPOSE
- Under the supervision of a foreman, the conservation labourer will perform manual labour work in support of wide variety of landscape maintenance, construction, horticulture, and resource conservation projects throughout the Meewasin Valley, with an emphasis on habitat areas and parks.
- Perform a wide variety of manual tasks of limited complexity requiring the us of standard construction and planting techniques and commonly used tools
- Understand and follow oral instructions
- Respect work-site safety
- The positions would be of particular interest to students enrolled in a post-secondary program in resource management, horticulture, agriculture, landscape design, recreation, or a related discipline.
- Candidates with experience in construction, horticulture, or a related discipline.
- Must be able to perform heavy physical work in outdoor conditions.
- Training in first aid, occupational health, or equipment operation is an asset. Please provide a list of such training with dates.

H. Environmental Stewardship Coordinator - Partners FOR the Saskatchewan River Basin (Term Position)
Partners FOR the Saskatchewan River Basin (PFSRB) works to increase awareness, understanding and stewardship of the resources of the Saskatchewan River Basin, extending over the three prairie provinces.
Duties- Assist with marketing, communications, administration, and delivery PFSRB programs, including State of the Basin Report, Envirothon, Click on Climate, Water Watchdog, and Moopher's Amazing Journey to the Sea
- Assist in developing funding proposals for PFSRB programs
- Assist in developing and enhancing partnerships from organizations
- Assist in identifying and developing new PRSRB programs
- General communications, research and marking activities, to increase awareness about PFSRB and the program that it delivers.
Full-time enrollment in a post-secondary program with experience in communications, marketing, and/or environmental education. Preference will be given to students with Aboriginal Status or of a visible minority if they state so on their cover letter. Everyone is encouraged to apply.
