Campaign Chair
Dr. Donald Somers is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with B.A., B.Ed. and M.Sc. degrees and a Ph.D. in molecular biology / genetics from the University of Toronto (Department of Medical Biophysics). He is currently a senior consultant with Steck and Associates Inc.
Don's community and industry activities include Chair of the Royal University Hospital Foundation; President of the Saskatoon Rotary Club; Chair, Board of Governors, Radiation Safety Institute of Canada; Chair, Ministry and Personnel Committee, McClure United Church; founder of A-STEP (Awareness Science and Technology Education Program), a group of educators and business persons involved in providing information on science and technology to middle years teachers and students; Saskatchewan representative on Science Culture Canada; Chair Public Affairs Committee, Canadian Nuclear Association. Don is co-founder of the Saskatchewan Environmental Industry and Managers Association (SEIMA).
